Hope that you too are ready for this.

But before I start I would again like to remind you about the task I had given in my last session, introductory session. Although I didn't hear a lot from you all, but at least it was a pleasure to see some activity in my mail-box, each one asking some questions regarding MBA. It was a pleasure to see that people have exactly started to think on the lines I wanted them to think on.

Well I am again presenting a set of question, spending some time on these questions will definitely lead you to a better and a satisfying future, for sure!

Why do you think MBA will be a better option for you?

Why do you think that an MBA degree will let you live the way you always wanted to live?

To what extent can you go to get an MBA degree?

What can you leave out in your daily schedule, in order to get admission into a good college?

Answer these questions and refining them daily or weekly will not only let you reach a better answer, but will also equip you for the D-Day in a better manner. Also, during the Personal Interview at most of the institutes you will asked questions relating to these aspects of your thinking, either directly or indirectly.

Now coming to some written exam specific discussions.

Well the written exam is designed in such a manner where you are expected to behave in a manner which could give the examiner a glimpse of the fact that you can turn out to be a Manager someday. By this I mean that you need to understand the most important role of a M-a-n-a-g-e-r : To Manage something, and let CAT [or any other MBA exam] be the first place where you should start displaying these qualities. And if you are able to actually act as a manager then I am sure that for rest of your life you will actually earn your living by managing things.

Any MBA exam will give you a surprise while you start writing the exam. Since, change could be the crucial point while measuring your capability to manage something. And once you are able to accept the fact that change which you saw just now is quite manageable then I am sure that rest of the things will take care of itself, by virtue of the hard-work put by you for this specific day.

On this positive note, I would like to start today's session.

Goto : http://www.esnips.com/web/CATcherLessons

Welcome to CATcher

CATcher

Hi all,

By this time you must have figured out the context in which I am going to write. But in case you have not been able to figure that out, let me put it here, its all about the MBA entrance exams for admission into Indian management institutes, with a super special focus on the CAT exam conducted by six Indian Institutes of Management.

So the stage being set for me, let me deliver about why do we need something like this. Why do we need something like this? Well, the most straight-forward answer to this question could come from our school and college days when we used to make hype of our exams and we never let even a single chance go from our hands to prove that this particular exam is toughest and this will be the deciding factor for your life. We continue to carry such an attitude long after passing all our school and college exams, and most probably we will carry it for the rest of our lives. So such has been the hype of this exam too.

Recently CAT has been (arguably) termed as the toughest exam of this world, and figures do suggest the same. Like this year around 1.79 lac students appeared for this exam and hardly 1500 students will finally get a seat in one of the IIMs. So it can be termed that CAT exam is more about rejection rather than selection, something unlike our school or college exams where there used to be a pass marks and once we used to cross the limit we used to be graded as successful. Here, in these tests there is nothing like a pass marks, and thats what makes it difficult to get into, since you have to fight against other students in order to get a seat.

But I have a different picture of this exam – I am not sure how many of you who are reading this page appeared for IIT-JEE after their intermediate education, but there too the figures used to be something similar. Like when I appeared for the IIT-JEE exam then for every 100 student 2-3 used to get selected. But out of the unqualified 97-98 students only a minor section of students were such who could have made it to IIT, say 5-6, rest appeared for the exam just because appearing for IIT-JEE was in-vogue, or their parents felt that studying at one of the IITs will take care of my child's future. So the actual competition trickles down to 9 and the 'selection : competitors' ratio comes close to 2:9. So don't you think that the competition is much lower than the projected figure? And same is the case with CAT exam too. Out of the 1.79 lac students around 1 Lac students must have appeared for this exam just because CAT is in-vogue, and around 30 thousand students must have appeared solely on the basis of their luck (expecting some miracle to happen in those 2.5 hrs, but sadly miracles happen only in movies). So here too, the competition is only among 40 thousand students. A rough estimate gives a very healthy figure of 1500 selection out of 40-50k students coming down to around 33% selection among serious competitors. Isn't that fair enough! So I just want to make you feel that CAT exam is not tough, it feels to be tough because it has been conceived in this way.

CATcher is my dream project where I always wanted to give back to the society whatever good I have got from it. And since the maximum contribution can be done only through contributing to the cause of the youngsters by giving them a clear picture of their future, and helping them achieve it by acting as a catalyst in the entire process. Since last few years I have been watching people around me discussing about this exam almost like crazy. And that gave me the whole idea to guide people who are misled by others, and help you throw away all your pre-conceived notion about this exam. And since this is not a business initiative for me I have decided to keep it FREE for all, yes I repeat, this will be absolutely free. And if the results are encouraging for me (once I come to know that this programme has been helpful to even a single guy) I shall continue to help others too, year after year.

And one thing more, I am sure many of you will have doubts about my ability to take through this exam, but let me just assure you, I will not disappoint you at all. Also, you have nothing to lose, you can always opt to find yourself out from this programme, once you see that the Quality is not upto your expectation. So can we begin now? I presume that you all said Yes!

My guidelines in order to make the most out of this programme:

CAT is just an examination, and not war, so live life normally, there is actually no need to create a havoc or chaos in your daily life. Just keep things Simple, always!

Continuity is something which life demands, so why not have the same rule for CAT too. Get regular for few months, and I am sure this will become your way of life, long after you have finished studies from one of the IIMs. Say, devoting 2 hours daily is not something too much, till CAT exam. Give it a try!

Smile, and smile a lot.

And before I forget something – There are two kind of candidates who appear for CAT exam – One, who just dream to study at IIMs, and Second, Who actually study at IIMs. There is just one difference between these two categories – the Second group of guys actually woke up and worked religiously to turn their dreams into reality. So if you too have a dream to study at some IIM, then just wake up! And in order to wake you up, here is my first lesson http://www.esnips.com/web/CATcherLessons

Watch this space........

keep watching this space...........will see some never seen things soon........
keep getting back........
